Application and Removal
Pro Application Tips and Tricks for a Lasting Manicure
Application 101
My full coverage gel press ons are LUXURIOUS, REUSABLE, and DURABLE. With proper prep and application, they’ll last anywhere from 10 to 25 days and can be reapplied again and again.
Durable Application
-
Step 1 – Prep the Cuticles
Push back your cuticles gently and remove any skin that has built up on the nail plate. This step is essential for a natural look and strong adhesion. You can even do this the day before so you aren't rushing the process.
Important: Avoid water for at least 1 hour before and after application to prevent lifting.
-
Step 2 – Buff the Nails
Use a soft sponge buffer or the included mini file to remove the natural shine from each nail. This gives your glue or tabs a textured surface to grip onto.
-
Step 3 – Clean Thoroughly
Wipe each nail with rubbing alcohol or acetone polish remover. This eliminates natural oils, dust, and residue, all of which can cause lifting.
Pro Tip:
If you’re using liquid glue and want to wear your nails for only 3–7 days, you can skip Steps 2 & 3 for easier removal later. -
Step 4 – Apply the Nails
Apply a thin, even layer of glue to your natural nail (don’t flood the cuticle area). Place your press on at a 45° angle, starting at the cuticle and pressing downward. Hold firmly for 10–15 seconds, applying even pressure across the nail to avoid air bubbles.
Wait to apply cuticle oil until 30-60 minutes after to ensure the glue has fully dried.
Using Glue Tabs
Follow the same steps, but swap the glue for a glue tab. With proper application, tabs will last 2-5 days, perfect for temporary wear, damage free. Don't forget the glue tab needs to take up the entire space of your natural nail bed.
Pro Tips and Tricks for a Damage-Free Removal
Removal 101
Safe removal is just as important as proper application. Done correctly, your natural nails stay healthy and your press-ons can be reused again and again!
Damage-Free Removal
-
Step 1 – Soak
(Chemical free method): Fill a bowl with hot water, a drop of soap, and your favorite oil (olive or avocado oil work best). A good ratio is 2 parts water : 1 part soap : 1 part oil.
Soak your nails for 10–15 minutes.
Works for both glue and temporary tabs, just requires a time commitment.(Chemical method): Acetone Lift (not a soak)
Take a cuticle stick and dip in acetone. Let the drop of acetone flood the cuticle space and gently lift the nail. Add one more drop of acetone under the press-on, and it would lift right off without damage to your natural nail or the press on.
Be careful not to use more than just a couple of drops of acetone, as this will destroy the gel nail tip rendering them useless for reuse.View my instructions for this method HERE on my IG
-
Step 2 – Gently Lift
After soaking, use a cuticle stick to carefully lift the edges.
If they slide off easily, remove them.
If not, don’t force it, apply more oil around the edges and soak for 5 more minutes.
Pro Tip: They come off easiest after a hot shower!
-
Step 3 – Clean your Natural Nails
Buff away any glue left on your natural nails, wash your hands, and apply cuticle oil to rehydrate.
-
Step 4 – Prep for Reuse
To reuse your press ons:
Buff off any leftover glue on the back with an e-file, buffer block, or nail file.
Once clean and dry, store them in a safe container until your next wear.
